There will also be plenty of attention on Matthew Richardson, who claimed gold in the sprint and team sprint for Australia in Birmingham four years ago but has since switched allegiance to England, the country of his birth.

In the pool, Olympic gold medalist and world record holder Adam Peaty goes in the 50m and 100m breaststroke events as he looks to make waves for England. Meanwhile, South Africa's Chad Le Clos - who beat Michael Phelps to 200m butterfly gold way back at London 2012 - needs one medal to become the most decorated male athlete in Commonwealth Games history, having already stood on the podium 18 times.
